About the Program + Curriculum:
The Green Innovator™ is a new education tool and catalyst for change in your community. More than just a curriculum, The Green Innovator™ is a strategy to help students better understand the complexities of ecological sustainability and their role in setting this movement in motion. Through the lens of applied design, The Green Innovator™ empowers students by providing an understanding of practical skills, field analyses and engineering strategies that deal with the relationships and systems that affect our shared ecology. With print, online and hands-on activity resources, it’s the perfect way to integrate math, science and language arts with real world content and critical thinking strategies.
Developed for high school students, The Green Innovator™ is perfect for all ages, but complements national high school science, math and technology education standards perfectly. Adaptable modules allow teachers to pick and choose from short or long-term activities that include real world case studies, hands-on activities, field studies, research opportunities and assessments. The idea of sustainability may be complex, but with The Green Innovator™, students will be able to navigate an emerging “green” field of possibilities ready for the challenges that will affect our shared future and the careers that will help to find long-term solutions to those challenges.
What Makes the Green Innovator™ Unique?
The real world is this way
The Green Innovator™ challenges students with real world design challenges that affect everything from community development, to transportation and how we get around, to the products and services we use everyday. The goal of this strategy is many-fold, but it’s really about providing relevance by asking students to consider real world problems while simultaneously providing the practical skills and critical thinking needed to actually design, build and implement solutions to these challenges (not just think about them.)
Design: a universal language
Designing is what human beings do! And so the design and systems thinking thematic that runs throughout the Green Innovator™ provides a framework for students to use skills they already have while applying newly learned math, science and reading skills to problems in their very own communities. Not everyone is a great athlete or mathematician, but everyone is a designer and that allows students the opportunity to contribute even if they are at different developmental levels.

The Green Innovator™ is shifting the paradigm of environmental education by concentrating not just on the problems but also on the solutions.
Preparation for a new movement
Environmental issues are only going to increase in relevance and penetrate the mainstream more and more as we become more aware global citizens. The Green Innovator™ is taking an active stance in preparing your students for a new way of thinking about systems dynamics that will be the new standard for the 21st Century, a preparation for the new wave of green collar jobs, career paths and college programs that are already popping up around the country.
